It’s my 35th birthday. Normally I hide the fact that it’s my birthday. You definitely won’t see it on Facebook. So, why is this year different?
I never thought I’d make it this far. I lost my father to suicide when I was 6 and have lived with depression and panic disorder all my life. There where many times when I didn’t care if I lived or died.
There is one key reason why I’ve made it this far- My support systems! My family and friends, peer mentors and doctors who were willing to work with me and stand by me through thick and thin.
That’s why I started NoStigmas. So that everyone would have the same opportunity to discover the support systems that work for them. Because no one should have to face mental illness alone!
